I'm gumby. It's made me more gumby, and it's done some sweet stuff for my balance. yoga for fighters in conjunction with ginastica natural have totally changed the way I move. Stacking the two as part of your cross-training is a must for anyone looking to really develop their game. I expected it to help my guard - and it definitely has, but the most noticeable benefit to me is that I now have a lot more balance, stability, and mobility on top. It's helped me become more than just a butt scooter.

I've been practicing/teaching Phils Yoga for fighters system for a while now and as much as the practice has helped me with all sorts of physical problems I've had, the dvd has helped me improve my practice even more.

Between clearing up some details that I wasn't aware of, seeing some new variations of postures and then seeing exactly how these postures can directly relate to Gracie Jiujitsu techniques and principles; I feel like this dvd has definitely made a positive difference in my practice. It's not your average "stretch and then kick higher) dvd, it is specific in how it ties together Yogic practice and Gracie Jiujitsu. Well, well worth the price tag in my book. Thanks Phil!

I have been practicing GJJ for 13+ years, about 6 years ago Phil asked me to touch my toes after training. I couldn't get much past my knees. Phil started me on a beginner sun salutation. I stayed with that until I could touch my toes but became bored and didn't realize how it was helping me. A few years later Phil started talking aout yoga for fighters and he was putting together a DVD. I was a little skeptical of how important it was to my GJJ game, after all I was already a purple belt. I eventually made it to Brown in 2006 and Phil told me if I ever wanted to get to the next level I needed to improve my flexibility. Well I'm old and a little more than thick headed. I praticed yoga in hopes of getting more flexible and I was getting there slowly. However, I never really comitted to yoga. Once I watched the yoga for fighters dvd I was hooked and can place my palms on the floor after warming up a little. It took me 6 years to see the importance of yoga in jiu jitsu. I'm convinced that once you watch the entire dvd you too will be hooked. Phil's explanation of how each pose fits into different positions and moves convinced me of it's importance. The only complaint I have is Phil didn't explain how each pose and position related 13 years ago when I first started training with him. One day I will get my revenge on him for making me wait so long.

So....

I have been trying to pick up a copy of Yoga For Fighters for about 6 months now (approx). Previously, I had purchased about 5-7 yoga DVD's, in hopes of finding that one DVD that would be motivational, easy to follow, hit my goals etc. The idea behind Yoga, for strictly for BJJ; flexibility, core strength, and also to help with some knee and back issues i seem to have.
I have gone to a few Bikram Yoga a few times, and thoroughly enjoyed it; but with my schedule, it is VERY difficult to make the classes. With this, i was looking for a DVD i could do at home around my schedule. I came across Yoga for Fighters by searching the lovely internet. I had read about it on a few forums, and saw the youtube clips promoting it. I had found Phil on Facebook, and ended up messaging him randomly. In hopes of a reply at some point, i actually got a quick IM message informing me the DVD was out of stock, but he would let me know when it was in. Short conversation about his school, and instantly could see why this Phil had such a successful school, and quickly realized what all the ranting and raving was about.
Fast Forward: Phil kept me posted as the months went on (being I am out of state, and could not grab a copy at his school). I received my DVD a few weeks back, and could not be happier with this purchase!!!
All the other DVD's were nearly impossible to follow along. Quick movements/transitions, not a lot of detail, and honestly barely hit the movements that would benefit me the most with JJ and MMA etc.

This DVD is a MUST have for anyone doing BJJ, or even someone just wanted a GREAT at home YOGA DVD (in my opinion). Flexibility & Core Strength is a huge tool to have, and this DVD will accomplish that. The DVD is super easy to follow along. Phil is very details, the pace of the Yoga and instruction is super easy to follow along. While doing the poses, he also touches base on variations, for more advanced movements later on. Unlike other DVD's out there, you will not be dreading doing this, and watching time time on the DVD player, praying this session ends soon.
It's gets A+++ from me, and I will be sharing it with my entire team, and promoting it to everyone.

Thanx again to Phil for this amazing DVD, it's exactly what i have been looking for, and cannot wait to start following this program a min of 3 x per week.
